The San Francisco 49ers have acquired wide receiver Skyy Moore and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round selection, according to multiple reports.
The trade comes as the 49ers face significant challenges at the wide receiver position, with Week 1 of the NFL season just over two weeks away. Key receiver Brandon Aiyuk is expected to miss the first one to two months due to a season-ending injury from late last year. Additionally, Jauan Jennings has been sidelined since early training camp with a calf injury and is reportedly dissatisfied with his contract situation.
Further compounding the team's issues, recently signed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been suspended for the first three games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Lower on the depth chart, Jordan Watkins and Jacob Cowing are also dealing with injuries.
Skyy Moore, known for his speed and big-play ability, demonstrated his skills with an 88-yard punt return touchdown in a recent game against the Seahawks. However, he has struggled to establish himself with the Chiefs since being drafted in the second round in 2022. Over his first three seasons, Moore recorded 43 receptions for 494 yards and one touchdown. Last season, he failed to record any catches in six appearances before a core muscle injury ended his year in October.
