76ers make their stance on Adem Bona crystal clear in many ways

The Philadelphia 76ers observed promising potential from rookie center Adem Bona during the 2024-25 season, where injuries forced him into significant playing time (58 games, 11 starts). Bona, a second-round pick, demonstrated strong shot-blocking ability, ranking fourth in block percentage among players with at least 750 minutes, and showed flashes of being a capable NBA rim-runner and rebounder.

Despite Bona's unexpected opportunity and positive signs, the 76ers have significantly deepened their center rotation during the offseason. They retained veteran Andre Drummond, drafted highly-regarded college big man Johni Broome (who possesses more offensive skill than Bona), signed free agent Trendon Watford to back up Joel Embiid, and added Dominick Barlow on a two-way contract.

This influx of players at the center position, several with higher pedigree or more experience, clearly signals the team's view of Bona.
