Aces Face Liberty Tuesday Night With Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu

The Las Vegas Aces (9-9) face the New York Liberty (12-6) at Barclays Center on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. PT, continuing their four-game East Coast trip. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Historically, the regular-season series between the Aces and Liberty is tied 32-32 over 64 games since the WNBA's inception. However, the Aces have lost the last five regular-season meetings. The teams will play their final regular-season game against each other on August 13 in Las Vegas.

The New York Liberty started the season 9-0 but have gone 3-6 in their last nine games. They have been missing center Jonquel Jones, who last played on June 19 and has only appeared in nine games due to injury; she averaged 12.1 points before being sidelined. The Liberty also missed Leonie Fiebich, who started nine games (averaging 6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds) before playing in the European Championship. Fiebich returned for the last two games, contributing 6.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Despite recent struggles, the Liberty lead the league in scoring (86.7 points per game), rank third in 3-point shooting and assists, and are fourth in field-goal percentage. Including the injured Jones, New York has four players averaging double figures: Breanna Stewart (19.8 ppg, 4th in league), Sabrina Ionescu (18.9 ppg), and Natasha Cloud (10.1 ppg).

Both teams excel at free throws: the Aces lead the league (84.4%), while the Liberty are second (82.3%).

For the Aces, NaLyssa Smith made her first start and recorded her third double-double of the season (11 points on 5-of-7 shooting, 10 rebounds). She is averaging 8.5 rebounds over her last four games, significantly higher than her season average of 5.3 rebounds.
