AFC Champions League 2: Hong Kong’s Eastern sunk after costly error

He described the team as "humble and hard working" and defended midfielder Leung Kwun-chung, whose mistake in possession resulted in Kristoffer Hansen's winning goal in the 54th minute.

Eastern has now lost both of their opening matches in the competition, with upcoming back-to-back fixtures against Thai club Ratchaburi. Nam Dinh's head coach, Vu Hong Viet, noted that this victory has placed Eastern in a challenging position, highlighting the pressure they face moving forward.

During the match, Eastern's goalkeeper Yapp Hung-fai was tested only once in the first half by a shot from Percy Tau, as the team's determined play frustrated the entirely foreign-based Nam Dinh side. Eastern's left-winger Gil Martins was particularly impactful, narrowly missing two shots and drawing yellow cards from opponents Kevin Pham Ba and Brenna through his dribbling skills.

Vu Hong Viet acknowledged Martins' ability to cause difficulties in one-on-one situations, emphasizing the threat he posed to their defense throughout the game.
