Agyemang named best young player of Euro 2025

Michelle Agyemang, the 19-year-old Arsenal forward, was named Euro 2025's Young Player of the Tournament after England's victory over Spain in the final in Basel. Despite playing only 138 minutes without starting any match, Agyemang crucially scored late equalizers against Sweden in the quarter-final and Italy in the semi-final to help England retain their European title via a penalty shootout win.

Spain's Aitana Bonmatí, the reigning Ballon d'Or holder, was awarded Player of the Tournament. After being hospitalized with viral meningitis shortly before the competition and appearing as a substitute in Spain's first two games, the 27-year-old midfielder grew in influence and scored the decisive goal against Germany in the semi-final. Bonmatí succeeds England's Beth Mead, who won the award in 2022.

Spain striker Esther González finished as the tournament's top scorer with four goals across six matches. The awards ceremony followed England's dramatic penalty shootout victory over Spain in the final, cementing the Lionesses' successful defense of their European championship.
