Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has expressed his hope that striker Alexander Isak remains at the club but acknowledged that the player's future is uncertain. Isak has informed Newcastle of his desire to explore his options this summer and is not participating in the club's pre-season tour of Singapore, partly due to managing a minor thigh injury.
While there have been discussions about a potential new contract for Isak at Newcastle in recent months, no agreement has been reached at this stage. Importantly, Isak has not submitted an official transfer request. The Sweden international still has three years remaining on his current contract, and Newcastle have placed a valuation of £150m on him.
Despite recently signing forward Hugo Ekitike for £79m, Liverpool are reported to still hold an interest in Isak. Howe confirmed Isak is currently in Newcastle undergoing assessment for his injury. He stated the club wants to see Isak "back soon and playing in the black and white shirt," while emphasizing that conversations between Isak, himself, and the club will remain private.
Howe highlighted Isak's popularity within the dressing room and the club's desire for him to continue at Newcastle. He clarified that no contract talks are currently taking place, suggesting those could potentially happen at a later date.
