The article highlights running back James Wilder as a key figure from the 1980s era, predating stars like Mike Evans, Mike Alstott, and Warrick Dunn, and even the team's competitive period.

Wilder, drafted in 1981, played nine seasons for Tampa Bay. He remains the franchise's all-time leading rusher 30 years after retirement, with 5,957 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns. He also accumulated 3,492 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns, totaling nearly 10,000 yards from scrimmage, making him one of the franchise's most potent offensive weapons.
