Angel City FC (ACFC) has signed defender Sara Doorsoun through the 2026 season via transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in the Frauen-Bundesliga. The transfer fee remains undisclosed. Doorsoun will occupy one of ACFC's international roster spots and will be eligible to play once her International Transfer Certificate (ITC) is received.
Doorsoun expressed excitement about joining Angel City, stating it has been her dream to play in Los Angeles since visiting with the German U-15 National Team at age 14. She promised to give her all for the fans and the city, expressing eagerness to play under Coach Alex Straus and with the team.
ACFC Sporting Director Mark Parsons welcomed Doorsoun, highlighting her significant club and international experience which is expected to impact the team both on and off the field. He emphasized her quality and leadership as the team pushes for playoffs.
Head Coach Alex Straus described Doorsoun as an experienced central defender he has faced many times. He noted her experience with top European clubs and the German National Team will add great quality to ACFC's roster, recalling she gave his teams problems when playing for Bayern Munich.
At the club level, Doorsoun has played for VfL Wolfsburg, helping them win consecutive Frauen-Bundesliga and DFB Pokal titles, and most recently for Eintracht Frankfurt, where she helped the team qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for two consecutive seasons.
Internationally, Doorsoun earned 59 caps for Germany, debuting in 2015. She represented Germany at the 2019 and 2023 FIFA World Cups and the 2024 Summer Olympics, where she won a bronze medal. She announced her retirement from international football in June 2025.
