The Chicago Sky signed Marquesha Davis to a seven-day hardship contract. Angel Reese, a player on the Sky, welcomed the addition publicly on social media, writing "Let's get it Q!" in response to the team's announcement.
Reese and Davis have a history from college basketball in the SEC. Davis played for Arkansas and Ole Miss, facing Reese's LSU Tigers in the 2024 conference tournament. In that game, Davis scored 21 points following a career-high 33 points in the previous round. Davis earned All-SEC honors in her fifth college season, averaging 14.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.
Professionally, the New York Liberty drafted Davis with the No. 11 pick in last year's draft, four spots after the Sky selected Reese at No. 7. However, Davis received limited playing time with the Liberty, averaging just 3.8 minutes over 29 games, totaling 32 points and 15 rebounds before being waived last week. She briefly appeared in two games against the Sky this season and scored three points in her final Liberty appearance on July 6.
Davis joins the Sky as they try to improve their 7-15 record and push for a WNBA playoff spot following losses to the Minnesota Lynx and Atlanta Dream before the break.
