Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka react to Ethan Nwaneri amid contract talks

Arsenal is attempting to secure young midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, 18, to a new contract as his current deal expires next summer, with the club adamant they do not want to sell him. However, Football Insider exclusively reports that Arsenal would demand £50million if a sale occurs, naming London rivals Chelsea as an interested party.

Nwaneri recently shared Instagram pictures showing him beginning pre-season preparations with Arsenal, who are currently training in Spain before touring Singapore and Hong Kong. His post, captioned "Good work away with the team, ready," received likes from prominent teammates including Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka. This return follows his participation in England Under-21s' European Championship victory just two weeks prior.

Despite returning to training, Nwaneri has yet to decide on his future. While manager Mikel Arteta gave him first-team opportunities last season due to injuries, Arsenal's summer transfer activity has increased squad depth, potentially limiting Nwaneri's playing time next campaign. The expected arrival of Noni Madueke provides competition in Bukayo Saka's position, a role Nwaneri previously filled. Although capable as a number 10, captain Martin Odegaard occupies that spot, making it difficult for Nwaneri to secure minutes there. Consequently, a move away from Arsenal might offer better prospects for his development and regular playing time.
