Azerbaijan to ride strong fan support at FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Sumgait Stop

The upcoming FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Sumgait Stop 2025 in Azerbaijan features defending champions Azerbaijan, aiming for a second consecutive title on home soil, buoyed by their recent victory in Bucharest and Brianna Fraser's clutch performance.

Top contenders include top-seeded Czechia, making their first Women's Series appearance since finishing runner-up in Marseille, led by the formidable scorer Katerina Galickova. Second seed Poland, coming off a fourth-place finish at the World Cup, and Latvia, fresh from winning their first title in Baku led by standout Ketija Vihmane, are also strong favorites. Asian powerhouse China, having reached the knockouts in all their previous stops this season, adds to the competitive field.

Other notable teams capable of challenging include CS Rapid Bucharest (ROU), who have reached two semifinals in three stops and feature the talented Hortense Limouzin, and Ukraine, semifinalists in all their appearances this season despite a poor World Cup showing. Benin and Slovakia have shown potential, while the team emerging from the Qualifying Draw (QD), highlighted by France, could also make an impact in the main draw.

The teams are divided into four pools: Pool A (Czechia, Azerbaijan, Slovakia), Pool B (Poland, Ukraine, Beijing (CHN)), Pool C (China, Benin, QD), and Pool D (Latvia, CS Rapid Bucharest (ROU), QD).

The two-day event takes place on July 26-27, 2025, and will be broadcast live on the FIBA 3x3 YouTube and Facebook pages.
