Baltimore Ravens Defensive Preview: Rush Hour

The AFC North division boasts elite pass rushers, including star players like T.J. Watt, Myles Garrett, and Trey Hendrickson. While the Baltimore Ravens lack a singular superstar at the position compared to their rivals, they possess a highly effective unit that collectively pressures opposing quarterbacks.

Edge rushers lead the Ravens' sack production, headlined by veterans Kyle Van Noy (12.5 sacks in 2024) and Odafe Oweh (10 sacks in 2024), both setting career highs. Despite being 34, Van Noy's strong performance suggests he can continue contributing.

The Ravens also feature promising younger edge rushers: David Ojabo, Tavius Robinson, Adisa Isaac, and rookie Mike Green (all 26 or younger). Green, a second-round pick from Marshall who led FBS with 17 sacks but had off-field concerns, has impressed coaches. Depth on the interior is a point of interest. Broderick Washington remains a solid third tackle, but the departures of Michael Pierce and Brent Urban necessitate replacements. Veteran John Jenkins takes over as nose tackle, and rookie Aeneas Peebles, known for his high motor, adds to the group.

The Ravens' defensive front has been highly successful, finishing top two in sacks for two consecutive seasons while maintaining a strong run defense. Their continued dominance is seen as crucial for the team's ultimate success.
