Bayern Munich have restarted negotiations with Liverpool regarding a potential transfer for forward Luis Diaz. The German club remains interested in signing the Colombian winger and is maintaining regular communication with Liverpool, though a second formal bid has not yet been submitted.
Liverpool previously rejected Bayern's initial offer of €67.5 million for Diaz, who has expressed his desire to leave Anfield. Despite having a contract until summer 2027, Diaz was absent from Liverpool's recent pre-season friendlies against Preston North End and Stoke City, though he continues training with the squad in Hong Kong ahead of their match against AC Milan.
Bayern's pursuit comes after failing to secure other attacking targets this summer. Primary target Florian Wirtz joined Liverpool instead, while Nico Williams renewed with Athletic Club. The Bundesliga champions also inquired about RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons but admire Diaz's versatility across multiple forward positions.
Diaz originally joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for £37.5 million (rising to £50 million with add-ons). During his 148 appearances for the club, he scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists. Most recently, he contributed 13 Premier League goals in 36 matches during Liverpool's 2024-25 title-winning campaign under manager Arne Slot.
