Blazers’ Damian Lillard will absolutely love Yang Hansen’s memory of him

Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard is expected to miss the entire 2025-26 season due to an Achilles injury. During his absence, his primary role will shift to mentoring younger teammates, including rookie center Yang Hansen.

The 20-year-old Yang Hansen, drafted 16th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies and subsequently traded to the Trail Blazers, impressed during the NBA Summer League with his versatility, vision, and skill. He is becoming more comfortable in Portland and getting to know his teammates.

When asked by ClutchPoints about his favorite memory of watching Lillard play, Yang responded by tapping his wrist, referencing Lillard's iconic "Dame Time" gesture, implying a shared understanding of the moment.

Yang is the ninth player from China drafted into the NBA and the third-highest selection, behind Yao Ming (1st overall in 2002) and Yi Jianlian (7th overall in 2007).

It was announced that Yang will not play for China in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup to fully focus on his transition to the NBA with the Trail Blazers.
