Borussia Dortmund were willing to offer Arsenal ‘big money’ to sign ‘brilliant’ star in the summer

Borussia Dortmund showed interest in signing Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal during the summer transfer window, as contract negotiations between the player and Arsenal initially stalled.

Both Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund actively pursued Nwaneri while his future was uncertain. Chelsea considered including him in discussions related to Noni Madueke, but Arsenal firmly rejected any possibility of letting him leave.

Despite significant financial offers from Dortmund regarding contract terms, signing fee, and transfer fee, Nwaneri ultimately decided to extend his contract with Arsenal, demonstrating his commitment to the club.

Although Nwaneri had a breakthrough season in 2024/25 and received praise for his performances, his playing time has decreased recently, raising mild concerns about his current standing in the squad, especially with younger players like Max Dowman getting more minutes.
