Steve Tasker, a former Buffalo Bills player, has advanced in the voting process for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2026, surviving a second reduction vote in the Seniors category. This brings him closer to potential induction after years of campaigning by fans and league members who view him as an underrated contributor to the Bills' four consecutive Super Bowl appearances.
During his career with the Bills from 1986 to 1997, Tasker excelled as a special teams ace, recording 204 special teams tackles and seven blocked punts. He earned seven Pro Bowl selections, was named the 1993 Pro Bowl MVP, and is a member of the Bills' Wall of Fame, highlighting his significant impact on the team.
Tasker is now one of 34 senior candidates remaining for the Class of 2026 and is the only special teams player in this group. The next phase of the voting process will occur in approximately four weeks, narrowing the list to nine semifinalists, from which three will be selected to enter the final selection process. For the Class of 2026, between four and eight finalists are permitted for induction.
In addition to the senior candidates, 52 modern-era players are also in contention for induction, including six former Bills players: running backs LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore, and Marshawn Lynch, offensive lineman Ruben Brown, linebacker London Fletcher, and safety Troy Vincent.
