Everton have completed the signing of 19-year-old left-back Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich for a fee of £8 million.
Aznou will compete with current Everton left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko (who played 35 Premier League games last season) for a starting place, though there are questions about his ability to immediately displace the Ukrainian.
Bundesliga commentator Kevin Hatchard, speaking exclusively, expressed caution about the signing. He highlighted Aznou's limited first-team experience at Bayern ("a handful of games"), despite acknowledging his talent and ball skills, stating there is "very little in the way of a track record" to judge him on currently.
The player began his career at CF Damm before joining Barcelona's La Masia academy in 2019. After three years there, he moved to Bayern Munich in 2022, making his senior debut in November 2024. He made only four total appearances for Bayern's first team and spent half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Real Valladolid in La Liga, featuring 13 times. He has also earned three caps for the Moroccan national team, and compatriot Achraf Hakimi acknowledged his move to Everton.
Manager David Moyes hopes Aznou can quickly adapt to the Premier League and fulfill the potential that attracted Barcelona and Bayern previously. Everton will benefit significantly if he develops into a top player on Merseyside.
