Caitlin Clark, who has been sidelined with a groin injury since mid-July, suffered a new injury scare during an individual workout on August 7 in Phoenix, where she tweaked her right ankle. In the same session, teammates Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald sustained season-ending injuries—Colson to her left ACL and McDonald to her right foot.
Despite the ankle issue, team sources emphasized that it is not considered a setback for Clark, as she remains unavailable primarily due to the groin injury. A Fever spokesperson stated that there is no timeline for her return, and the priority is to allow her sufficient recovery time to ensure she returns fully healthy. Clark has not yet resumed full team practice, and no official timetable has been provided for her comeback.
This is not the first time Clark has faced an ankle problem; she previously rolled her right ankle in a game against the Connecticut Sun on May 21, 2024, which briefly required assistance to the locker room.
