Callum Wilson has reached an agreement on personal terms with West Ham United for a move to the London Stadium, according to talkSPORT. The 33-year-old striker has been without a club since departing Newcastle United at the conclusion of last season.
Despite receiving interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Leeds United, West Ham currently leads the race to sign the England international. Wilson's agent leveraged his close relationship with West Ham owner David Sullivan to initiate talks about the free-agent transfer.
West Ham has reportedly offered Wilson a contract featuring a minimal base salary supplemented by performance-based bonuses tied to goals and appearances. This structure mirrors a previous "pay-as-you-play" proposal from Newcastle that Wilson rejected in favor of free agency.
Should the transfer be finalized, Wilson would become West Ham's third summer signing following midfielder El Hadji Malick Diouf and defender Kyle Walker-Peters. The club also secured the permanent signing of French defender Jean-Clair Todibo after his loan spell last season.
During his five-year stint at Newcastle, Wilson scored 49 goals and provided 11 assists across 130 appearances after joining from Bournemouth for £20 million in 2020. He notably helped end Newcastle's 70-year trophy drought by winning the 2023 Carabao Cup. However, his final season was marred by injuries, limiting him to 20 appearances and one goal.
