The Chargers concluded their ninth practice of Training Camp with a 90-minute full-pads session on Saturday evening, earning a day off on Sunday before camp resumes Monday morning.
Derius Davis was the standout performer during Saturday's practice, catching three touchdowns. This follows Head Coach Jim Harbaugh highlighting Davis's strong camp performance the previous day. Davis's first touchdown came on a 15-yard sliding catch in the back of the end zone from Justin Herbert during a full-team red-zone drill. He then scored again in a red-zone 7-on-7 drill, beating Ja'Sir Taylor on a third-and-9 play from the 19-yard line on another Herbert pass. Davis completed his hat-trick with a 4-yard touchdown catch on an out route against Eric Rogers, this time from Taylor Heinicke.
Davis's impressive training camp form builds on his emergence as a receiver late in the 2024 season, where he caught his first two career touchdowns in Weeks 16 and 17, finishing the season with 13 catches for 112 yards. Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman emphasized Davis's significant improvement, noting progress during last season, the offseason, and continuing into the current training camp.
