Chris Via and Bryanna Coté won the 25th anniversary Storm PBA/PWBA Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles tournament, commonly known as "The Luci," at Copperfield Bowl in Houston. This victory marked Via's second career PBA Tour title and Coté's sixth PWBA Tour title, ending Via's title drought since his 2021 U.S. Open win and Coté's since her 2023 U.S. Women’s Open triumph.
The duo dominated with a total pinfall of 10,416 (+1,216) across 46 games, including 24 round-robin matches. They entered the final position round with a 260-pin lead over second place. Kyle Troup and Liz Johnson finished second (+1,042), followed by Darren Tang and Li Jane Sin (+839), while Andrew Anderson/Erin McCarthy (+752) and Tommy Jones/Shannon Pluhowsky (+718) completed the top five.
Coté, the 2021 PWBA Player of the Year, attributed their success to thriving on challenging lane conditions, noting both have previously won U.S. Opens. She emphasized their strategy: "We focused on making shots... making spares and kept chugging along," adding that winning the 25th anniversary edition with Via made this title particularly special.
Via expressed relief at securing his second title after multiple near-wins, including a second-place finish earlier in the season. He highlighted the difficulty of doubles tournaments, stating: "You have to have both people going at the same time," and called being a "multi-time PBA titleist" deeply satisfying. Both players underscored the emotional significance of this anniversary victory.
