Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry expressed that he still deeply regrets a dropped pass during the team's playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills last season. He told NFL Network that he thinks about the drop "all the time" and it "still makes me cringe."
The drop occurred on the opening drive of the divisional round game. Quarterback Lamar Jackson rolled out and threw to a wide-open Henry on first down, but Henry couldn't secure the catch despite having space ahead. Although the Ravens scored a touchdown later on that same possession, the game ultimately came down to an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt.
Henry contributed 84 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in the 27-25 loss. However, this performance was considered disappointing compared to his 186-yard, two-touchdown game against the Pittsburgh Steelers the previous week.
Despite the playoff disappointment, Henry had an outstanding first season with the Ravens after eight years with the Tennessee Titans. He rushed for 1,921 yards in 2024, averaging a career-best 5.9 yards per carry, and his 16 rushing touchdowns tied for the league lead.
Even acknowledging this successful season, Henry stated that the memory of his dropped pass in the playoff game continues to haunt him.
