Despite links to other keepers Manchester City have made their choice as their next number-one goalkeeper

Manchester City are reportedly anticipating a bid from Galatasaray for their current goalkeeper Ederson, potentially leading to his departure.

Consequently, numerous goalkeepers have been linked as potential replacements for City. However, despite emerging links to high-profile targets like Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma, the club appears firmly committed to making Burnley's James Trafford their next number-one goalkeeper.

Reports indicate City engaged in talks regarding Donnarumma, who is considering his PSG future and has only twelve months left on his contract, attracting interest from Chelsea, Galatasaray, AC Milan, and Bayern Munich. Nevertheless, City's links to various goalkeepers are seen as expected while Ederson's situation remains unresolved.

Further evidence supporting the Trafford focus includes reports that City have no interest in FC Porto's Diogo Costa. Trafford himself is keen to return to Manchester City, but this move is dependent on Ederson joining Galatasaray.

Critically, the 22-year-old Trafford would only return to City to become the starting goalkeeper, entering his prime years. He would not join if City signed an established star like Donnarumma, as that would hinder his development and block his path to the number-one spot.

Therefore, while Pep Guardiola's side continues to be associated with goalkeepers like Donnarumma, the clear indication is that James Trafford is their chosen successor for Ederson, barring any major unforeseen changes.
