WNBA veteran DeWanna Bonner is set to return to Indiana to play against her former team, the Fever, when the Phoenix Mercury visit next Wednesday. Speaking about the upcoming return, Bonner expressed she has no regrets about her decision to leave the Fever earlier this season, stating, "I wouldn’t do anything differently, I think my journey is my journey... It carried me to where I am now in Phoenix."
Bonner, a 14-year veteran who entered the league with the Mercury in 2009, joined the Fever in February. At the time, the Fever were considered title contenders, and Bonner joined a roster featuring players like Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. However, she left because she did not feel adjusted to the Fever's system. She specifically refuted claims that her departure stemmed from being upset about coming off the bench, emphasizing, "I have no problems coming off the bench... I don’t feel like I have that reputation."
The six-time WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year, six-time All-Star, and two-time champion has since returned to the Mercury. She has found her place on the contending team, which currently holds a 15-9 record in the Western Conference.
