The Miami Dolphins held their fifth training camp practice on Monday, returning after a Sunday break. Players wore shells, with full pads scheduled for Tuesday's session to increase physicality and allow better trench play evaluation.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill displayed a strong connection, reminiscent of their past production. Tagovailoa completed an impressive 20-yard sideline throw to Hill under pressure early on. The duo connected again shortly after on a cross over the middle and later for a red-zone touchdown.
Hill did not immediately join the start of practice but participated beginning in Period 2, a change from his typical routine last season. He posted a teaser video for an upcoming YouTube video just before the team took the field.
A minor scuffle occurred late in practice between center Andrew Meyer and rookie defensive tackle Kenneth Grant after they got tangled in the trenches. Players quickly intervened to separate them.
During 11-on-11 drills, Tagovailoa made notable throws to Hill (a deep sideline route) and Jaylen Waddle (an intermediate out-breaking route). However, pass rushers Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson would have recorded sacks on these throws. Phillips later secured a coverage sack in a red-zone session.
