Everton tipped to reignite interest in Josh Sargent despite significant ‘risk’ emerging

Everton is considering signing a new striker in the summer due to significant struggles in their attack during the 2025-26 season. The team has managed to score only seven goals in the Premier League so far, with current strikers Beto performing poorly and Thierno Barry failing to score since his summer signing. This has left manager David Moyes unable to rely on his attackers, prompting the need for reinforcements.

As a result, Everton has been linked with Josh Sargent, a striker for Norwich City in the Championship. Sargent has maintained strong form, scoring five goals in eight matches this season, and was previously praised as a 'complete striker' by former Norwich boss David Wagner. Although Everton showed interest in Sargent earlier this year, no transfer occurred at that time.

Given Everton's ongoing goal-scoring issues, Bryan King has supported reigniting interest in Sargent, describing him as a good option who could potentially outperform former player Calvert-Lewin. However, King noted the risks of signing players from lower leagues and the high cost involved, as Sargent has a contract until 2028 and is a key player for Norwich.
