Former Arsenal player Carl Jenkinson suffered a serious injury while playing for League Two club Bromley during their match against Millwall over the weekend. The right-back was attempting to stop a Millwall attack when he sustained the injury, leaving him in agony and causing the game to be paused. Medical staff rushed onto the pitch to administer gas and air, and Jenkinson was stretchered off before being taken to hospital, where it was confirmed he had dislocated his hip.

Jenkinson has publicly thanked the medical personnel for their swift response and care. In a statement released by Bromley, he expressed deep gratitude to the paramedics, doctors, nurses, and staff at PRU Hospital, stating, "It's only when you are in a time of need that you realise how incredible these people really are." He also thanked everyone at Bromley Football Club for their support, praising the club's tight-knit community spirit.

Reflecting on the injury, Jenkinson acknowledged that setbacks are part of football. He emphasized appreciating every moment on the pitch, especially as an older player, recognizing that "it can be taken away from you at any moment." Despite feeling sadness about the lengthy recovery ahead, he expressed strong determination to return, fueled by the desire to play with his teammates again: "that pre-match feeling... already gives me the fire in my belly to tackle this process head on." Jenkinson concluded his message by promising to return as soon as possible for Bromley's season.

The 33-year-old defender, who played 70 games for Arsenal between 2011 and 2019 and had subsequent spells with Nottingham Forest and Australian clubs Melbourne City and Newcastle Jets, joined Bromley last season. He has made 13 appearances for the club across all competitions. Bromley begins their League Two campaign this Saturday away at Shrewsbury Town.
