Philadelphia Soccer 2026 announced that the Fashion District shopping mall in Center City will serve as the primary hub for all volunteer operations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Philadelphia is one of 11 US host cities and will stage six matches in June and July 2026, including a Round of 16 match on the Fourth of July, coinciding with America's 250th anniversary.
The organization anticipates needing 3,000 volunteers to support the city during the tournament. Individuals interested in volunteering can apply online at volunteer.fifa.com.
Philadelphia Soccer 2026 selected the Fashion District due to its location near hotels and public transportation, as well as its accessibility to over 3,100 parking spots. Co-chair Michelle Singer emphasized the site's convenience for volunteers arriving by foot, transit, or car, and its proximity to historical sites and the city's economic center, calling it the ideal location for the large volunteer effort.
Mayor Cherelle Parker hailed the selection as a "significant victory" for Philadelphia. She stated the volunteer center will not only support critical World Cup operations but also generate significant economic activity for local businesses, restaurants, and hotels. The city expressed pride in supporting the effort and the volunteers who will ensure the tournament's success.
Philadelphia Soccer 2026 will begin interviewing and selecting volunteers over the next couple of months.
