Federico Chiesa transfer option emerges as Liverpool has one condition

Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is being targeted by Italian club Atalanta. Signed from Juventus last summer in a cut-price deal, Chiesa is considering a move away from Anfield in search of more regular playing time after finding minutes limited under manager Arne Slot during his debut season.

Chiesa has attracted interest from several Serie A clubs, including Atalanta, AC Milan, and AS Roma. Atalanta's pursuit is linked to the potential departure of winger Ademola Lookman, who is strongly linked with Inter Milan. Despite scoring in a recent behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly against Stoke City, Chiesa missed Liverpool's Asia tour due to a minor muscle injury. With the World Cup approaching, Chiesa desires consistent playing time, but Liverpool cannot guarantee this following Mohamed Salah's contract extension and the summer signings of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Liverpool, who paid an initial £10 million plus add-ons for Chiesa, may look to make a profit on any sale.

Chiesa himself admitted frustration with his challenging first season at Liverpool, citing arriving after pre-season, struggling to catch up with the squad, and suffering an injury. He stated he respected manager Arne Slot's decisions and put aside his individual desire to play for the team's benefit during their successful campaign.
