Kelsey Mitchell led the Indiana Fever to a 93-78 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday, scoring 35 points and hitting seven 3-pointers. The high-profile matchup was missing stars Caitlin Clark, who sat out her fourth consecutive Fever game with a groin injury, and Angel Reese, who missed her second straight Sky game with a back issue.
Aliyah Boston contributed 14 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists for the Fever (14-12), who secured their third double-digit win against Chicago this season. Makayla Timpson added 14 points off the bench, and Aari McDonald scored 10 points. The Fever capitalized heavily on turnovers, converting 23 Sky miscues into 31 points.
Mitchell achieved significant career milestones during the game, including her 100th career 20-point game (second in franchise history behind Tamika Catchings) and her ninth 30-point game. She also recorded her 200th career steal.
For the Sky (7-18), Rachel Banham scored 26 points with six 3-pointers. Kia Nurse added 14 points, Rebecca Allen scored 13, and Kamilla Cardoso had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
After the Fever built a 16-point lead early in the fourth quarter, the Sky rallied to cut the deficit to six points with under five minutes remaining. Mitchell responded with a crucial 3-pointer and two free throws to quell the threat and secure the win.
Indiana established control early, closing the first quarter on an 18-2 run to lead 26-13, fueled by Mitchell's 13 points and 14 points off nine Chicago turnovers. The lead extended to 16 points in the second quarter, ending the half at 51-39. Chicago opened the third quarter strong, narrowing the gap to 56-55 midway through, but Mitchell answered with a 3-pointer and layup, followed by consecutive baskets from Timpson to push the lead back to 65-55. Lexie Hull's buzzer-beater gave Indiana a 75-61 advantage heading into the final period.
