The second leg of the ICTSI Intercollegiate Golf Tour is set to proceed at Splendido Taal Golf Club in Batangas, deemed playable despite recent heavy rains and flooding. Joshua Buenaventura and the University of the Philippines-1 (UP-1) team enter as favorites following their strong performance in the first leg at Royal Northwoods.
Buenaventura, who won the men's individual title at the first leg with a three-under-par 69, beating La Salle's Zachary Castro by two shots, aims for another championship. He teams up again with Miggy Roque and Emilio Carpio for UP-1 under the three-to-play, two-to-count format, expressing high expectations for the team.
La Salle-1 will feature Zachary Castro, Jose Lorenzo Flores, and Miguel Fusilero. Ateneo-2 will be spearheaded by Joson, who finished third individually in the first leg boosted by a hole-in-one, alongside Matthew Mendoza and Juan Escaño Jr., seeking to improve their team's third-place finish.
The second leg of the women's division is scheduled for August 9th at Caliraya Springs Golf Club in Cavinti, Laguna. Points are awarded to the top eight teams and individual players after each leg, with the top three advancing to the Grand Finals in September at Splendido. A win earns 15 points, second place 12 points, and third place 10 points, in both individual and team play. The circuit includes four stops before the Finals.
