Former Sixers Guard Seen Dominating at Summer Pro-Am

Following TJ McConnell's departure, the Philadelphia 76ers needed to fill their backup point guard role in the early 2020s. Ahead of the 2020 season, they signed veteran Trey Burke, a former top-ten (9th overall) pick in 2013, to compete for the spot behind Ben Simmons.

Despite being undersized, Burke was considered an effective NBA point guard due to his scoring ability, having averaged double-digit points in four of his first five seasons. However, his time with the Sixers was short-lived, lasting only 25 appearances, as Raul Neto secured most of the backup minutes. This led to Burke being traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

Burke spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Mavericks but has been out of the NBA since 2022. While he has shown impressive performances in the G-League, it hasn't resulted in an NBA roster spot.

Recently, footage emerged of Burke showcasing his talents in a summer Pro-Am league. The video demonstrated his high-level offensive skills, with defenders unable to contain him, proving he still possesses significant talent with the ball.

Still in his early 30s, the article suggests there remains a small possibility Burke could return to the NBA before ending his playing career.
