Former Sixers Guard Signs with Western Conference Contender

Free agent guard Jared Butler has agreed to a one-year contract with the Phoenix Suns, joining the Western Conference team. Butler, a 2021 second-round draft pick, played for both the Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Wizards last season, averaging 9 points in 17 minutes per game across 60 contests.

Butler's path last season involved starting with the Washington Wizards, where he averaged only 11.3 minutes per game and also played for their G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go. His situation changed in February when he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

With the 76ers, Butler saw significantly increased playing time due to injuries sidelining key players like Paul George, Jared McCain, and Tyrese Maxey. Head coach Nick Nurse started Butler in 17 out of his 28 appearances for Philadelphia. During this stint with the Sixers, Butler averaged 11.5 points and 4.9 assists per game.

The report also mentions that Butler might not be the only former 76er joining the Suns, as Phoenix has shown reported interest in three-time All-Star Ben Simmons.
