Gilbert Arenas Predicts When Sky Star Angel Reese Will Have a Real Shot at Winning WNBA MVP

Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas has made a bold prediction about Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese during his podcast "Gil's Arena." Arenas stated that Reese will win the WNBA MVP award by her fourth season, projecting she will average 22 points and 18 rebounds per game at that stage, provided the Sky become championship contenders.

Arenas emphasized that Reese, currently in her second season, is at her "worst" level now and has significant room for growth. He specifically highlighted her rebounding dominance as a foundation but noted she can still improve, calling her "an amateur rebounder" not yet elite in her own mind. Arenas mapped out a progression: expecting near 19 points and 19 rebounds next season, advancing to 20 and 20, and ultimately reaching 22 and 18 by season four.

The prediction is supported by Reese's strong 2025 performance. Through 21 games, she averaged 14.0 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. Her July performance was even more impressive, averaging 18.8 points and 12.8 rebounds. Reese recently made WNBA history by securing her 10th consecutive double-double, becoming the first player ever to achieve multiple streaks of 10+ consecutive double-doubles.
