The New York Knicks are facing significant challenges in assembling head coach Mike Brown's coaching staff. The Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans denied the Knicks permission to interview Jay Triano and James Borrego, respectively, for the lead assistant position.
Furthermore, the Knicks' rumored interest in Golden State Warriors lead assistant Terry Stotts will not come to fruition. League sources confirm Stotts has no plans to leave the Warriors and will return to Golden State for the 2025-26 season. Stotts joined the Warriors last season following a brief stint with the Milwaukee Bucks that ended prematurely during the preseason.
Stotts remaining with the Warriors is somewhat surprising given his extensive head coaching experience. He was head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers for nearly a decade (2012-2021), achieving the second-most wins in franchise history, and also previously coached the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks. He won an NBA championship as a Dallas Mavericks assistant in 2011 and aims to win another with the Warriors during Stephen Curry's final years.
