The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed safety Marcus Epps, bringing him back for a second stint with the team just two weeks before the start of the 2025 season. Epps, who previously played under then-defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, will now be coached by Vic Fangio.
Head coach Nick Sirianni expressed confidence in Epps' ability to quickly adapt to the team's system, citing his intelligence and the support of assistant coaches Christian Parker and Joe Kasper. Teammate Reed Blankenship, recently named a team captain, highlighted Epps' mentorship during their time together in 2022, noting his role in Blankenship's development as a rookie.
Epps left the Eagles after Super Bowl LVII to join the Las Vegas Raiders on a two-year contract. He started every game in 2023 but suffered a torn ACL early in the 2024 season, limiting him to just three appearances. He later signed with the New England Patriots in March but was released during roster cuts.
Reflecting on his return, Epps stated that the decision felt right both personally and professionally, emphasizing a sense of belonging at this stage of his life and career.
