Barcelona must complete registration for Marcus Rashford to play in the 2025–26 La Liga season, and the England international has the summer preseason to demonstrate his abilities to new fans. The team traveled to Japan for their opening friendly against Vissel Kobe, which was initially in doubt but proceeded as planned after a resolved issue.

In the match, Barcelona secured a routine 3–1 victory over the J1 League leaders, who provided a competitive test in midseason form. Rashford, one of the new signings, made his debut as a second-half substitute, replacing Raphinha on the left wing. He played more wide on the touchline compared to his predecessor, though he had limited chances to receive the ball and attack the defense directly.

Rashford showed bright moments, including a superb control of a long pass and an attempt to set up Robert Lewandowski for a scoring opportunity. He missed a chance to score himself with a first-time shot. However, he contributed to Barcelona's go-ahead goal by smartly moving infield and delivering a pinpoint pass to Lewandowski, who assisted Roony Bardghji's debut goal. Rashford was then substituted after about 15 minutes of action.

He will have further opportunities to impress, with Barcelona heading to South Korea for friendlies against FC Seoul on July 31 and Daegu on August 4, before returning for the La Liga season start.
