The Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky will face each other for the third time this season, including the second meeting at Chicago's United Center, this Sunday afternoon. The Sky enter the game on a four-game losing streak and face uncertainty regarding All-Star forward Angel Reese, who missed their last game due to a back injury and is currently listed as day-to-day.
Reese's absence was felt in Chicago's most recent outing, a 95-57 loss to the Seattle Storm – their worst defeat of the season. The Sky struggled significantly in that game, committing 19 turnovers compared to 14 assists and shooting poorly (21-for-62). Chicago has had particularly inefficient performances against the Fever this year, losing 93-58 in mid-May (shooting just over 29%) and suffering a 27-point defeat in early June (shooting 18-for-56).
The Fever will also be missing their superstar guard, Caitlin Clark, who is sidelined with a groin injury and has no timetable for return. Indiana desperately needs wins to maintain its playoff position. Despite Clark's absence, the Fever have other All-Stars to rely on, evidenced by Kelsey Mitchell's 21 points and Aliyah Boston's strong play in their recent win over the Las Vegas Aces.
While Indiana appears less vulnerable in this matchup, Chicago faces significant pressure. With a 7-17 record, the Sky need a dramatic turnaround in the second half of the season to contend for the playoffs, but there is little evidence suggesting they are capable of such a feat.
