Lonnie Walker, a seven-year NBA veteran, spent most of last season playing for EuroLeague club Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania before signing a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers in February. However, the 76ers declined their team option on the 26-year-old shooting guard at the end of last month, making him an unrestricted free agent. He has not yet been linked to any other NBA team.
Reports from Matteo Andreani of Basketball Sphere and Tomer Givati of Israel Hayom indicate that Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv is in advanced talks with Walker and has offered him a two-year contract. Andreani states that Hapoel Tel Aviv is "confident the deal will be finalized soon."
