A dozen applicants have applied for the open District 3 seat on the Scotts Bluff County Board and participated in interviews today.
The interview committee, composed of Clerk Kelly Sides, County Attorney Dave Eubanks, and Treasurer Heather Hauschild, asked the candidates about their reasons for wanting to serve on the board.
During the interviews, former Scottsbluff teacher Matt Parsley highlighted his long-standing support for county government, noting his experience teaching government and organizing County Government Day events to educate students about its functions.
Current Gering City Council Member Rebecca Shields explained her interest in moving from city to county government, expressing a desire to assist a wider range of people and address diverse county-wide issues.
The full list of candidates includes Jonathan Van Galder, Robert D. Nemnich, Kristy L. Petersen, David M. Muehlbauer, Gerald L. Crable, Emily Norman, Krystal Eich, Mitch Wagers, Thomas M. Swan, and Brooke Feil.
Each candidate was allotted 15 minutes for their interview, and the committee will now deliberate to choose a replacement for recalled Commissioner Charlie Knapper, who will serve the remaining 14 months of the term.
