JackJumpers come from the clouds to stun Sydney

The Tasmania JackJumpers staged a dramatic comeback in the 2025/26 NBL season, overcoming a 16-point deficit in the final quarter to defeat the Sydney Kings by one point. With seven minutes remaining, the JackJumpers appeared to be on the verge of defeat, but they mounted a relentless offensive push in the closing moments to close the gap.

The game began with the JackJumpers aggressively attacking the basket, hitting 13 of their first 16 shots to lead by four points after the first quarter. However, the Kings responded in the second quarter, led by star guard Kendric Davis, who fueled a turnaround that gave Sydney a five-point halftime lead. The Kings extended their dominance in the third quarter, capitalizing on Bryce Hamilton's foul trouble to build a 15-point advantage heading into the final term.

Despite Hamilton fouling out, the JackJumpers refused to surrender, launching a 10-0 run in the last 10 minutes, with Will Magnay making key contributions inside the paint. As the pressure mounted, the Kings faltered, missing crucial free throws and committing a critical turnover by Xavier Cooks in the final seconds. Nick Marshall seized the opportunity, driving to the basket for a game-winning layup as time expired.

The JackJumpers' victory was a collective effort, with all five starters scoring in double figures. Bryce Hamilton and Josh Bannan led the team with 18 points each, while Will Magnay added 15 points and Nick Marshall scored 14, including the decisive basket. For the Kings, Kendric Davis was the top scorer with 22 points, and Jaylin Galloway contributed 18 points in a strong individual performance.
