Jalen Hurts says communication will lay the groundwork for this year’s offense

Philadelphia Eagles completed their third day of training camp practice, with new play-caller Kevin Patullo continuing to shape the team's offense. Quarterback Jalen Hurts, familiar with coordinator changes, noted to NFL Network that Patullo's communication approach has been developing for years, specifically praising its clarity.

Unlike previous offensive coordinators Brian Johnson and Kellen Moore, Patullo brings unique experience having coached both quarterbacks and wide receivers. He explained this dual perspective helps "marry the two positions," allowing him to teach route concepts by explaining the quarterback's viewpoint—something receivers typically don't hear. This approach aims to avoid past offensive issues.

As Philadelphia's new offensive architect, Patullo faces the critical task of maintaining continuity for the NFL's top-ranked unit. His four-season collaboration with Hurts provides deep insight into the quarterback's preferences, strengths, and weaknesses. Additionally, Patullo understands the capabilities of key skill players including running back Saquon Barkley and wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
