Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has successfully undergone surgery to address a persistent left shoulder injury, supervised by the club's medical team. This procedure initiates a rehabilitation phase that will sideline him for several months.
The 22-year-old has managed the shoulder issue since initially dislocating it during a November 2023 match against Rayo Vallecano. He postponed surgery last summer to participate in England's European Championship campaign, relying instead on physiotherapy and a shoulder brace throughout the season.
Following the recent Club World Cup in the United States, Bellingham opted for surgery, expressing fatigue with playing "with the sling" and a desire to regain full shoulder functionality. His recovery is projected to take up to 12 weeks.
This absence will cause Bellingham to miss Real Madrid's first eight La Liga matches and the opening two Champions League group stage fixtures. He will also be unavailable for England's September World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, and remains doubtful for October's qualifier against Latvia.
The injury presents an immediate challenge for new manager Xabi Alonso ahead of Madrid's La Liga opener against Osasuna on August 19. It further deprives the club of a key player as they defend their league and Champions League titles.
