Kevin Durant's Nike Sneakers Honor the Seattle SuperSonics

The Nike KD 18 "Rain City" colorway, released on July 22nd for $155, pays tribute to Seattle, the city that drafted Kevin Durant second overall in the 2007 NBA Draft. This release honors Durant's brief time with the Seattle SuperSonics before the franchise relocated and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The shoe features a Black upper with Anthracite mesh, accented by University Gold outlining and hits of Fir green. Design details specifically referencing Seattle include raindrops on the midsole and insole, and Durant's draft date (6.28.07) stitched inside the tongues.

Technically, the Nike KD 18 incorporates Air Zoom cushioning combined with Nike Air inside Cushlon foam underfoot, a radial traction pattern, and a breathable mesh upper. These features contribute to the shoe's ultra-lightweight and bouncy feel, designed to support Durant's renowned on-court stamina as he begins a new chapter with the Houston Rockets.

While the "Rain City" edition is widely available at Nike.com in almost all sizes, it follows an extremely limited "Seattle Sonics" colorway released earlier in the summer (only 18 pairs). Fans can expect to see Durant wearing the Nike KD 18 during his upcoming season with the Rockets.
