At least one MLS club, reported to be Los Angeles FC, has expressed interest in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Giovanni Reyna. Dortmund is struggling to find a buyer for the 22-year-old American, whose market value has significantly declined to €7 million following another disappointing Bundesliga season.
Reyna's career, once highly promising with a peak value of €42 million and dubbed "The American Dream," has suffered due to persistent injuries and concerns about his work ethic for both club and country.
During the last season, Reyna managed only three Bundesliga starts and three Champions League starts for Dortmund. He made 25 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist, and was generally fit to play.
Reyna is entering the final year of his Dortmund contract, which he extended shortly before being loaned to Nottingham Forest in January 2024. This six-month Premier League loan proved unsuccessful.
Previous links to a move to Spanish side Real Sociedad have reportedly cooled, with interest from the La Liga club drying up.
His recent involvement includes earning one cap for the USMNT this year in the CONCACAF Nations League third-place playoff and making one brief 12-minute substitute appearance for Dortmund at the recent Club World Cup.
