Latest Rays injuries & transactions

The Tampa Bay Rays have provided recent updates on several injured players. First baseman Yandy Díaz is day-to-day with right hamstring soreness after appearing to suffer the injury while running the bases on August 21; he will be re-evaluated on August 22. Shortstop Ha-Seong Kim is on the 10-day IL with low back inflammation, expected to return in late August or early September, and was scratched from the lineup on August 20.

First baseman Jonathan Aranda has a fractured left wrist from a collision on July 31 and is on the 10-day IL, possibly returning in September; he will soon begin strengthening exercises. Outfielder Stuart Fairchild is on the 60-day IL with a right oblique strain, possibly returning in late September, and as of August 19, he is not yet able to do baseball activities.

Utility player Richie Palacios is on the 60-day IL with a right knee sprain and began a rehab assignment on August 19, playing for Triple-A Durham. Shortstop Taylor Walls is on the IL with a left groin strain since August 12, expected back in September, but still experiencing symptoms when batting right-handed and running.

Outfielder Jonny DeLuca is on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain after exiting a game on August 6; he has returned to running and hitting as of August 19 and is expected back in September. Right-handed pitcher Hunter Bigge is on the 60-day IL with right lat strain and facial fractures, possibly returning this season; he underwent surgery on June 20 and is throwing at 105 feet as of August 19.

Left-handed pitcher Shane McClanahan is on the 60-day IL with left triceps nerve irritation and biceps tendinitis, expected to return in 2026 after surgery on August 11. Left-handed pitcher Nate Lavender is on the 60-day IL and will undergo season-ending elbow surgery for a bone spur, with a return expected in 2026.

Right-handed pitcher Alex Faedo is on the 60-day IL with thoracic outlet syndrome, out until 2026 after season-ending surgery. Right-handed pitcher Manuel Rodríguez is on the 60-day IL after elbow surgery on August 8 for a right forearm strain and elbow soreness, with a return expected in 10-12 months.
