The policy prohibits referencing other media sources, guestbooks, or obituaries placed elsewhere within the Pioneer Press obituary (both print and online). Instead, the obituary may include the funeral home's website or a family email address for contact. Questions about this policy should be directed to the obituary desk.

After submission, the Pioneer Press will send a proof of the obituary via fax or email for review before publication. This proof will include the price and scheduled publication dates. Submitters must carefully review the proof and notify the paper of any errors or changes before the notice appears, adhering to the daily deadlines.
