Michael Lewis, 55, pleaded guilty on Monday to stalking Indiana Fever basketball star Caitlin Clark. Lewis was arrested in January after investigators determined he sent sexually explicit and threatening messages to Clark through social media.
As a result of his guilty plea and with credit for time already served, Lewis was sentenced to a term of slightly more than one and a half years in prison at the Marion County Adult Detention Center.
Court documents revealed that the social media account allegedly used by Lewis to send the messages was traced back to IP addresses associated with the Hilton Garden Hotel in Indianapolis and the downtown Indianapolis Public Library.
At the time of his arrest earlier in the year, Lewis identified himself as a resident of Denton, Texas, stating to police that he was visiting Indiana on vacation.
The victim, Caitlin Clark, 23, was the number one overall pick by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She subsequently won the 2024 Rookie of the Year award and is a two-time WNBA All-Star.
