Mark Pope is ‘really proud’ of what Kam Williams has brought to Kentucky Basketball

Kentucky Wildcats fans are anticipating basketball season under coach Mark Pope's second year, despite the upcoming football season. Pope and his staff have assembled a completely new roster for the season.

Pope recently praised Tulane transfer Kam Williams during a media session, calling him a high-potential 'three and D' player. Pope expressed pride in Williams, stating, "I'm really proud of Kam... it's unbelievable when you get to coach a guy where you tell him, 'We need you to do this every single time,' and he does it every single time." Pope emphasized that Williams embracing this level of execution gives the team a chance to be differentiated from others in college basketball.

Williams, a 6-foot-8 guard, averaged 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game last season at Tulane. His 41.2% shooting from beyond the arc is expected to help him fit well into Pope's offensive system at Kentucky.
