The Memphis Grizzlies have undergone significant roster changes this offseason, highlighted by trading core player Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic in exchange for draft picks and players. This move follows their first-round playoff exit, with the team aiming to rebound by the 2026 season.
Additional offseason activities include contract extensions for Jaren Jackson Jr., Santi Aldama, and Cam Spencer, along with the signing of Ty Jerome and drafting Cedric Coward. The team recently secured center Lawson Lovering on an Exhibit-10 contract after his standout Summer League performance, where he shot 83.3% from the field across three games, including five dunks.
Lovering, a 7'1" University of Utah graduate, averaged 8.4 points and 4.9 rebounds as a senior. His best Summer League showing was a 10-point, 6-rebound game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Exhibit-10 deal allows Memphis to evaluate him during training camp with the option to convert his contract to a two-way deal before the regular season.
Memphis has advanced past the first playoff round only once since 2016. While Lovering’s potential contribution to improving this record remains uncertain, he must earn his NBA roster spot during camp.
